This has very little to do with pets! However, we are concerned about humans, too. Especially the little ones that get sick with cancer and end up at St. Jude Children's Hospital. We donate on a monthly basis to St. Jude, always with the reminder that one day it could be our children needing the love, medical treatments, and hope that emanate from this hospital. St. Jude performs cancer treatments for children and their parents that cannot afford other hospitals or are not covered completely by insurance. They turn down no one. (if only we had something like this for our pets!) We believe wholly in St. Jude as we have known people that have even lost children to cancer, had them at St. Jude, and still tell us how wonderful they are.
In saying this, I have decided to join in with the Hancock Fabric's sponsorship of the St. Jude Quilt of Dreams contest. Hancock Fabrics will donate $.40 for each yard of fabric they sell from their St. Jude line. Also, the fabric manufacturer donates an additional $.10 for every yard. The quilters themselves have a chance to win a $500 Hancock Fabrics shopping spree. (Yippee!) The best part is that the kids have wonderful quilts with their dreams stitched into them, comforting them and keeping them warm.
Anyone, any age, can join in this wonderful venture. Donating time, money, and comfort to a child in need, doing what we love to do. Of course, I am going with an animal theme for a wonderful little girl that wants to be a veterinarian! I will keep you updated and posted on how the quilt is going. In the meantime, check out the Hancock Fabrics link and start quilting! http://www.hancockfabrics.com/St-Jude-Contest_stcVVcatId537819VVviewcat.htm
