Fantasy Dream Knits Updates and Activities

In an effort to keep my customers informed of my whereabouts and doings, I am going to try and keep weekly updates. I can't promise that this will be consistent, but I will try my very best! Lately I've been very busy making patterns, buying fabric, researching, and putting together an whole new line of lovely lingerie for you all. I have also been working on adding finishing touches to a baby doll I have been knitting (on and off) for a while.
See left and right. This top is available with or without the organza bow, and the bow can be placed at the midriff or on the top neckline. Click on the pictures to visit my studio and learn more about this top.

I also invested in one of the most beautiful books I've had in a long time. Sweet Nothings: Handmade Camis, Undies, & Other Unmentionables by Valerie Van Arsdale Shrader is simply one of the most wonderful books for understanding and creating undergarments. As you might know by now, I love lingerie. The allure of sheer materials, silky essences, and soft comfort just draw me in and make me admire their loveliness. This book is filled with patterns using everything from vintage slips, doilies, and bed sheets, to chiffon, silk, and lace to make elegant lingerie.

I also have been traveling the Internet to find some of the materials to make the lovely designs. One of the biggest obstacles I found was finding stretch lace in widths above 3". I shopped brick and mortar stores, finding very little in the way of anything remotely sexy or appealing. The best I could find was some simple cotton laces in 2-3" widths. I don't like scratchy undies. I mean really, who does? But I did finally find one seller on eBay that can meet my supply demands.

And last but not least we have added some new products and incentives to buying from Fantasy Dream Knits. Now, with every order (excluding patterns) you will receive a luxurious loofah soap from Sapone Bolla on Artfire. These loofah soaps are made with cocoa butter and coconut oils with essential soap components and soft fragrances. They are a delight for the senses and the body. So along with your order of beautiful lingerie from Fantasy Dream Knits, you can indulge in an evening of bathing and primping.

We have also joined forces with a great cause. I subscribe to a great little catalogue by Nancy's Notions. This is where we found the information on an organization called Little Dresses for Africa. This is a free service opportunity for anyone, and we are not asking you to pay for ANYTHING when it comes to the dresses. However, what we are telling you is that for every item you order from Fantasy Dream Knits we will be able to purchase cotton materials and create these little dresses to send. On the blog site for this organization they make the opening statement, "Simple dresses are made out of pillow cases and distributed through the orphanages in Central Africa to plant in the hearts of little girls that they are worthy." This falls in with our philosophy that from the time little girls are born they need to be reminded of this simple fact and uplifted by other strong women that they are beautiful, strong, smart, and  independent.

So that is what we have been up to lately. I'd love to hear back on what you think of some of these things and what we could offer to make your shopping experiences at Fantasy Dream Knits everything you ever dreamed of.
