Peanuts Creations

Doesn't that name just sound adorable? Karen from Peanuts Creations is just as wonderful as her name implies, and so are her items! This week's contest item is:  Handmade crochet summer hat, made in a very lightweight, soft white yarn. It has a scalloped edge and two handmade flowers attached. The winner will let me know what size they would like and I will make it specifically for you! The one shown would fit a toddler or young girl. The flowers can be removed and the hat is washable.

To win, all you have to do is comment. Leave me your name and a contact email (yourname (at) yourserver (dot) com) in the comments below. Winner is chosen through Random.org.

So just who is this artisan? Karen makes many things from baby hats and booties, to purses, jewelry, and household items. She and her husband also use their wood lathe to make wood and acrylic pens, bottle stoppers, key chains and more.

Karen says, "I was so fortunate that my grandmother taught me to crochet, knit and tat when I was a little girl. It would be much harder for me to learn now I think. Since then, I have taught myself more stitches and learned how to read and create patterns." I think many artisans can relate to a skill that was passed on through their elders. It is what keeps crafting alive.

She says, "I can't tell you how lucky I am to be able to do what I love and actually make a little money from it. I have only been selling my items online and at craft shows for about 2 years. It has been quite a learning experience and couldn't have done it without a lot of tips and advice from other crafters/artists."

You can find Karen and Peanuts Creations, along with her woodwork at Etsy and Artfire. Tweet with her on Twitter, and check out her blog. She is also our featured artisan on My Craft Corner this week through Artfire Promotions.

  12. Adorable hat! It would look so cute on my granddaughter. My mom taught me to crochet when I was a girl and I used to love doing thread crochet but not enough hours in the day anymore to do everything.
